Hari Hi: Om
Salutations to Revered Rishis
Rishis are Immortal. They constantly strive for the welfare of mankind. Through the ages, their endeavours in the spiritual plane go on ceaselessly both at micro and macro levels without anyone's knowledge. These spiritual guides act as the bridge between humanity and divinity. Even when Lord descends on earth in different Avataras, he is guided by Rishis, as he would be in human form (which has its own limitations) During the past three Yugas of Krita, Treta and Dwapara, there was close and constant link between the Rishis and human beings. But it dwindled and became rare in course of time as righteousness (Dharma) declined. Now at the close of Kali Yuga, only a few pure- hearted ones are able to establish contact with Rishis and Gods. Yet the great Rishis are constantly engaged in the task of uplifting the human race from the material to the spiritual. In the materialistic world, human beings are usually engrossed in worldly affairs, except very few individuals who have spiritual inclinations. To accomplish their tasks on the Earth, Rishis choose a few great and perfect souls at the human level. Our preceptor
Shri Ambareesha Varma is one such pretenent personality who devoted and dedicated his entire life in the service of Rishis. He was renamed as Amara by Vishwamitra MahaRishi (A term which means immortal also, when reversed is RAMA indicating Amara is None other than Shri Rama Himself )
Vishwa Maitri (which literally means universal friendship) which was formed in 1979, is a unique spiritual institution, set up on the directions of MahaRishi Vishwamitra and evolved by Shri Ambareesha Varma.
Attaining spiritual elevation by practising Dhyana as prescribed by Rishis and leading a righteous life are the goals. Spreading the message of Rishis is the main purpose. Universal love and friendship are the fundamental principles.
In our organization Vishwa Maitri all are one; there is no superiority or inferiority complex. There are no castes, creeds, religions, or disparities. There are no posts like manager, supervisor, or general manager. In the eyes of Guru Amara, all are equal, and the connection is only between Guru Amara and the members.
GURU AMARA lived a simple and ideal life with spiritual discipline of high order, though born in a Royal Family. With the characteristic smiling countenance, he was radiating Tejas at all times. He was a Sthitaprajna (well balanced person) and Pari-Poorna (perfect in all respects).
As already mentioned, his entire life was dedicated to the service of Rishis (narration of Rishis works accomplished by Shri Amara are published in our another publication Amaravani).
Like him, the members of his family too were known for their service and sacrifice. Their generosity had no bounds. Magnanimity and hospitality were their hallmark. Though GURU AMARA stayed away from any kind of publicity throughout his life, people were drawn to him in great numbers by his very personality .
He used to treat everyone alike without any discrimination of caste, gender or status.
Guru Amara initiated people into Dhyana Marga on the lines prescribed by Rishis (In the astral presence of a Rishi & a Deity) In addition, other related subjects like Yoga, Physical culture, Astral travel, Astrology, Astronomy, etc, were also being taught, in accordance with the tenets of sages.
The narration of Rishis works by Guru Amara was mind boggling and evoked utmost curiosity among the listeners. Hours used to elapse as minutes when people sat with the Master.

Princely state of Koujalagi and the Desai family
Koujalgi is a place situated some 10 or 12 kms from Gokak town in Belagavi District of Karnataka. It was the home and administrative centre of the heads of Koujalgi princely State of Kshatriyas. Its chieftains were addressed as Sardaar. It was ruled by the Koujalgi Royal Family Sardaar Giriyappa Varma Desai, an ancestral ruler of the princely State, was the grandfather of our revered Amara. Bheemappa Varma Giriyappa Varma Desai (B G Desai Who is KASHYAPA MAHARISHI) was Giriyappa Varma Desai’s son and Amara ’s father.
He was born on May 4 1894. He lost his mother at an early age and soon thereafter his father too.
B G Desai’s personality and training by the British
After the death of both of his parents, the British, who were then ruling a large part of the country, took the young B G Desai under their care as per the then widely prevalent ‘Court of Wards’ Act.
They reared him and took over all his responsibilities. Under the then existing law, the British acquired the whole properties of B G Desai. Even then they showed a liberal outlook by training him to become the Koujalgi princely State’s ruler at a later date and to discharge his duties efficiently.
It will not be an exaggeration to say that they demonstrated this spirit of liberalism even though the law mandated otherwise. B G Desai became proficient in Administration and worldly affairs. He was an advisor to people of 18 castes When he was 18 years old, B G Desai was in a position to take over the reins of the Koujalgi princely State owing to the training he had received under the Court of Wards Act.
The British handed over to him all the lands and all other assets of the princely State with all official documents. They gave him enough administrative and judicial powers. As a noble and compassionate human being, he did not wish to undertake himself the enforcement of death sentences by firing and hanging. He persuaded the British Rulers to keep this particular enforcement with themselves. BG Desai was tall, well-built and handsome. Energetic, enthusiastic and well-behaved too. He was a proficient tennis player. Hunting was his favourite pastime. With his immense strength he could lift and hoist a live horse on his shoulders! He could raise a hefty sandalwood table at his house with many drawers by just using his Thumb. He was able to fight many people at a time, single handedly. However, he was using this extraordinary prowess only when it was absolutely required.
After his return from the Court of Wards he used to hold Darbars as per the Royal tradition. He earned the affection of people by sharing their joys and sorrows and solving their problems by providing timely succour. His magnanimity and charity earned him the epithet of Dana Shoora Karna (The legendary Mahabhaarata warrior who was known for his charity)
Arrival at Kalyaana puri Nagar (The present Bengaluru city)
Once when B G Desai had gone to the forest for hunting, he became very thirsty. He drank water from a nearby well, took rest and went to sleep. His entourage of servants and soldiers had gone far away. He had a dream in which someone brought a message that the bride's party was coming from the South to the North and the bridegroom's party, from the North to the South. He returned to his place after waking up. As though by coincidence or some incomprehensible divine design, soon thereafter he went with the members of his family southwards to the distant Kalyaana Puri (The ancient name of Bengaluru) from his State. He reached Panchavati, the residence of the renowned scientist - late Sir CV Raman, in 15th Cross, Malleshwaram in Bangalore.
Panchavati was then (at the time of his dream) the home of the bride's parents Lakshminarasammanni and 'B. J' Kumaraswamy Nayak, whose full name was Baaraa Mahal Raana Jagadeva Krishna Swamy Nayak. Baaraa Mahal meant the owner of 12 palatial buildings. He worked then as Deputy Commissioner. His wife Lakshminarasammanni was a revolutionary social activist.

'B. J' Kumaraswamy Nayak was an expert horse rider. It has been recorded that once he rode a horse, brandished his leather whip and chased away dacoits. He built the house Panchavati in the two-and-half- acres in 1911-12. It is a palatial, hexagon-shaped structure, with a magnificent hall and several rooms. With lush greenery all around and a variety of trees bearing fruits and flowers, Panchavati was a feast to the eyes of any onlooker.
Lakshminarasammanni was the daughter of the Jahagirdars of Hosur-Bagalur province. The Kumaraswamy Nayak-Lakshminarasammanni couple had two daughters. The elder, Muddunanjammanni was born in 1900. The younger one, Krishnaajammanni, was born on July 26, 1910. After B G Desai and his family members came to Panchavati, as recounted earlier, marriage negotiations took place and in a few days he married Muddunanjammanni.
The grand marriage was celebrated on 31st May 1917-in a never before and never after style.
Personality and educational excellence of Raani Saraswati Bai (who is Devi Aditi)
After marriage the bride Muddunanjammanni was rechristened as Raani Saraswati Bai. She was well educated and soon learnt the Puraanas, music and several languages. She became well-versed in Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, English and French, as well as in Karnatak, Hindustani and Western music. She could enthrall her audience with her melodious playing on Veena, Sitar and Piano. She was particularly drawn by Rámáyana, Mahábhárata and the Bible.
A curtain was hung in the middle of the music room of the palace as per the Royal traditions. On one side sat Raani Saraswati Bai holding the vena just like the Goddess Saraswati with veena firmly placed on her right lap and inclined across her body at an angle right up to the left shoulder. On the other side would be the teacher.

No sooner than he played notes on the Veena, Raani Saraswati Bai would quickly grasp and produce them on her instrument. The teacher was amazed at her quick learning. Similar was her fast learning of Sitar and Piano.
The couple followed diligently the precepts of married life. During her pregnancy, which took place some time later, she used to spend her time reading sacred books like the Raamaayana and rendering devotional songs.

Birth and Naming Ceremony of Ambareesha Verma
At Midnight on February 1, 1919, the Pushya Bahula Amavasya day and in Shravana Nakshatra the Raani gave birth to the Divine Jewel of a Son, who was named as Ambareesha Varma Desai.
Birth took place during the residual period of the Chandra Mahadasha, which was five years five months and 14 days.
The naming ceremony of Ambareesha in Panchavati was marked by grandeur. People from Belagavi, Gokak Dharwad and other places attended the ceremony. There were special seating arrangements in Panchavati premises for all the relatives and dignitaries of the Royal family as well as for the common people commensurate with their status. All the guests were treated with sumptuous meal. Music concerts were rendered by renowned musicians. The special lighting arrangements lent an added charm to the event. Elaborate transport arrangements were also made for the guests to return to their places after enjoying the event to their hearts fill.

Incidentally this was the first and also the last grand ceremony in the life of Ambareesha.
The BG Desai couple had another son after two years in 1921 and the child was named Ravi Varma Desai.
The Raani Saraswathi Bai was beautiful, well-dressed with neatly, tastefully arranged hair. She was very loyal to her husband and used to treat him reverentially, keeping to the ancient religion and its injunctions. She raised her son Ambareesha affectionately. He was her very life. She used to be exhilarated just by gazing intently into his eyes. She stitched his clothes herself and taught him to pedal a bicycle, while playing by herself on the sitar. Even simple chores filled her with joy-like peeling off oranges and feeding each piece of it to him. He was the very image of her motherly affection.
After the birth of the second child Ravi Varma, she was suddenly afflicted by influenza. But she did not lose heart. She continued to be her usual self, dressing well and spending time concentrating on spiritual matters. But in due course her health deteriorated. She became aware that her end was nearing. On the day the end came, Raani, ever devoted to her husband, had a bath, put on valuable ornaments studded with diamond and other jewels. She wore a gold decorated green saree. She shone like the Goddess Lakshmi. For the last time she made preparations for her husband to perform worship. She drew colourful rangoli around the wooden seat on which her husband sat while doing worship. Kept ready turmeric, kumkum, fruits and flowers. She sent for him through a servant. When he came she made him adorned on the seat, washed his feet and paid obeisance to him with fruits, flowers and sacred water.
She placed her head on her husband's feet, devoutly saluted him and said that she would soon desert her body and leave this world. Her two children were very young then, Ambareesha two years old and Ravi Varma a few months old. She asked her husband to look after them well as she could not do it herself. She called Ambareesha and said that he would one day become a great devotee and told her husband that he should be nursed with extra care. Then she called all her household paraphernalia clerks, officials, horsemen, horse trainers, stablemen, household workers, cooks etc. She told them that she was about to depart from this world and urged them intently to excuse her if she had done anything wrong during her lifetime. She saluted them all.
Then she retired to her bed. Filled her heart by looking at her cute son. Placed his hands into the husband's hands and requested him again to rear the son well. She remained silent for a few minutes. Then even as all eyes were on her, the end came. She never got up from the bed again. It was a rare and touching event indeed.
B G Desai was filled with extreme grief. He shifted from Panchavati to a rented house on Davy's Road in Richards Town (Cantonment area) of Bengaluru. It was a well-ordered house. He made all arrangements to look after the two kids-two-year-old Ambareesha and six-month-old Ravi Varma-and for this he appointed a faithful person named as S. Mukunda Rao.
There were also several others for this purpose. Among them were Muslim Mallik, Kshatriya Siddappa and Christian woman Neil. Another Kshatriya Ramaji was in charge of cooking. Mr. Bernard and K Srinivasachar taught English and Kannada to the children. Despite all these facilities befitting the royals, Ambareesha and Ravi were starved of motherly love.
The English teacher Bernard came to the house early in the morning, woke up the children and taught them after their morning chores. He was a soldier-like disciplined man and taught discipline to the kids too.
For the kids, Mukunda Rao and Siddappa were like parents. Mukunda Rao raised them into well-groomed children, who grew only on vegetarian food. On important days, poojas and Homas were performed. On the children's birth days, Ayushya Homa was done for their long life. Generous charity formed another routine for their good.
It was thus that from an early age Ambareesha grew in a religious atmosphere and developed the religious bent of mind.
The eyes of everyone around were always on the children. The children too listened intently to religious stories. While playing they did the roles of Gods. Once Ravi played Shiva and attacked Ambareesha with Trishoola, Shiva's favourite weapon. The elders stopped this play lest Ambareesha would be wounded, but they too liked it and asked Ambareesha to play Shiva holding Trishoola, but Ambareesha declined. For he would not wound anyone even in play. This showed his non-violent mindset that was embedded in him right from childhood.

Ambareesha also cultivated writing habit. He was inclined to Hindustani, Carnatic and Western music, as also to playing musical instruments such as -veena, sitar, tabla, guitar, and piano. His other interests were arts and photography.
Ravi Varma was healthy and handsome. He was quite intelligent and always excelled in studies.
BG Desai gave his younger son Ravi Varma in adoption to Khande Rao Desai, the Jameenadar of Sindhi Kurubet princely State. Khande Rao had immovable property in this princely State, which was adjacent to Koujalgi State. As per dynastic traditions, the first son takes over the responsibility of administering the State and becomes the rightful owner of property. Therefore the father did not wish to give Ambareesha away in adoption. Ambareesha became the sole rightful claimant of Koujalgi province. He was just three years old then.
B G Desai's Second Marriage
A few years after Raani Saraswati Bai's death, B G Desai married her sister Krishnaajammanni. Her name was changed to Krishnaa Bai. The couple had two daughters.
Arrival of Maharshi Vishwaamitra and training in Spiritual work
Amara was studying in Bangalore. He was nine years old. An operation for tonsilitis had been arranged for him. Before the operation, he was given anaesthesia and was asked to count ten. By the time he counted six, he lost his consciousness. But, at the same time, he became aware, at a different level, that he could come out of his physical body. He wanted to come out and in the next moment, he was out of his body! He felt lighter and realised somehow that he was in a subtler body. He came out of the roof and began zooming into the sky at an unbelievable speed. But, he was not frightened. It was as if he had travelled like this many many times.
He heard a strange music from a faraway place above. Reaching the source of music, Amara passed Venus and Mercury and came near the Suryaloka. The music was coming from inside the Suryaloka. Without hesitating, he moved into the Suryaloka and passed the burning surface. Again, he was not scared. It was again as if it was not the first time! After zooming through the burning Sun for some time, he entered a huge sky. He saw several earths and found that the music was coming from a particular earth. He went and landed on that earth. There, he saw a huge palatial building. Many people were entering the building. He also followed them. As he entered a huge hall, Amara saw Bhagawaan Suryanarayana on a Jeweled Golden Throne with a Jeweled Golden Crown on either Side his two wives Soujanya Devi and Chaya Devi Seated. People were bowing before. He also bowed. Then, he looked at a person who had touched his shoulder and recognised him as a friend from the past life. His friend asked Amara why had he come there and explained that people come there only after death. His friend took Amara to a nearby tent where seven Rishis were sitting. After hearing Amara, one of the Rishis spoke to Amara and said that Amara should not be there before death. But having gone there, somehow, he should return back to the earth. The Rishi promised to meet Amara on his earth. After offering respects, Amara returned back to the earth in the same way as he had gone there.
Since the return from the abode of Suryaloka, Ambareesha had been eagerly waiting for the arrival of divine beings from there.
On a Fullmoon (Pournami) night, as he was lying on the bed gazing at the Moon, he saw a red ball of light and heard the sound I have come as promised by me. Be ready to meet me. The ball then transformed itself into Maharishi Vishwaamitra, who appeared before Ambareesha in physical form. The 72-feet tall MahaRishi naturally scared the 12-year-old boy! Sensing this,He then reduced his height to a height of 7 feet, entered the room and sat in a chair. He spoke with the boy for some time. promised to come daily and went away. He kept his promise of coming daily and often taking him along in Astral form. MahaRishi Vishwaamitra gradually trained him in Rishis works.
The Maharishi subjected Ambareesha to several tests, which the boy passed to the former's satisfaction.
Thereafter he took the boy to a cave in the Holy Kailasa Mountain, which is the abode from where all the work is done. MahaRishi Vishwaamitra introduced him to the Markandeya Maharishi as his new recruit and an activist for Rishis work. As per the prevalent practice, the workers had to appear daily before the Rishis and discharge the duties entrusted to them, mostly in their physical bodies, and sometimes in Astral form. At times the work continued for days together. During those days the workers would leave their bodies in a locked room, assume Astral forms, and go back to their physical forms after completing the entrusted works. Those who failed to accomplish the work were declared unfit and sent back. The life of these activists was marked by selflessness and sacrifice. The work continues in all their births.
Education in Madras City and continued contacts with Sages
After high school education, the boys joined the Pachchiyappa's College in Madras - Ambareesha for B.Sc and Ravi Varma for BA courses. Before they went to Madras, MahaRishi Vishwaamitra met Ambareesha in Davy's Road and Armstrong Road houses. The Second World War was then raging (1939-1944). The MahaRishi created a model of the globe, pointed at Germany on it and explained to the boy the progress of the war. He also took him personally to different war fronts on different days and brought home to him the cruelty perpetrated by the war and the human misery caused by it. He also described the work to be done by him and prompted him into doing it.
While studying in the Madras College, Ambareesha remained in constant contact with the MahaRishi Vishwamitra. Financially he was facing hard days as he did not have enough money to meet his requirements. In the meanwhile Mukunda Rao, who managed family properties, died. His successor did not send money promptly. Ambareesha's father could not enquire about his children as he was fully occupied with the affairs of the princely State. Ambareesha had grown in his childhood without any monetary concerns and now this was a new experience. Aware of all this, the Rishis kept him in their constant company. His interest in the mundane studies declined in course of time and the spiritual interests increased. Quite often he was taken by Rishis to the seashore for Dhyana. He used to sit for meditation on the beach, unmindful of the severe daytime heat at the sea shore. He ignored the notices received from the college for his absence from the classes.
The Rishis used to keep his mind engaged by talking about worldly affairs and thus not letting him worry.
His brother Ravi Varma, was doing well in the studies and completed his BA in Astronomy. The brothers continued to live there.
Ambareesha grieves Mukunda Rao's death. The death of Mukunda Rao, who was the guardian of the brothers, soon after they went to Madras, has already been narrated. It is necessary to write about him, who was highly regarded by Ambareesha. He carried out all his responsibilities as guardian neatly and satisfactorily. He was always concerned with the growth and well-being of the brothers and looked after them like their parent. He got Ayushya Homa performed every year for their longevity. When he died Ambareesha was overwhelmed by emotions, remembering Mukunda Rao's personality, his poise, discipline, efficiency, generosity, parent-like affection and his duty consciousness. He was unable to bear the loss and for the first time in life felt himself an orphan with this human link of love and affection snapped.

Ravi Varma's Marriage and the take-over of Reins of Sindhi Kurubet Princely State
B G Desai and the Desai of Sindhi Kurubeta Princely State decided to celebrate Ravi Varma's marriage when he was 21 years of age. Saabu Devi (Chaayaa Devi, known as Akkaa Saaheb) daughter of the Desai of Lokaapur, situated near Koujalgi, was selected as the bride. Both sides agreed upon clothes, ornaments and dowry.
In the meantime Desai of Lokaapur died and therefore marriage was to be held in Tirumala Tirupati. Accordingly the marriage of Ravi Varma and Chaayaa Devi took place on 4th December 1941. Ravi Varma was not happy since it was a forced marriage, which was also not to the liking of Ambareesha or other members of the family. But they all remained silent since Ravi Varma had been given in adoption and they did not wish to show discourtesy to the elders, who had fixed the marriage. Ambareesha put akshata on Ravi's head (a marriage ritual) and blessed him closing his eyes; but he was sad.
Ravi Varma left Bangalore and went to live in Dharwad as he was the adopted son of Khande Rao Desai of Sindhi Kurubeta Gokak Paragana Princely State. He had the royal insignia of that State. The picture of insignia is given here.
Royal Emblem of Sindhi Kurubet Princely State After the adoption, Ravi Varma's name was changed as Ravi Varma Khande Rao Desai. His reign started under the title of Sri Mallaari Maartaanda Prasanna -Desai Paragana Gokak. It was a turn of destiny that the two brothers who had lived together since birth had to separate.
As per the tradition, being elder son, Ambareesha should have married earlier than Ravi Varma. But he had no inclination for worldly life and he was drawn to the spiritual life due to his close contacts with the Rishis. After Ravi Varma's marriage and departure, loneliness started gnawing at him since both of them had grown together and Ravi Varma had become his bosom companion.
Work of Ambareesha, Post Ravi Varma's Marriage
After Ravi Varma left for Dharwad after marriage, Amabareesh used to go to brother's house in Bagalkot. Also sometimes to Belagavi and Dharwad. He stayed there and managed the lands in his possession.

He fulfilled the father's wish that he should become a graduate; but did not join Government or any other service. As the family owned thousands of acres of land and other properties, he did not need any job. At this stage he returned to Bengaluru and lived alone in the Cook Town House. He devoted more time now on spiritual pursuits. He did not have Human Gurus, but only the Rishis who taught and guided him continuously from the 12th year of his age. He studied in depth astrology, astronomy and palmistry. He also studied ancient scriptures on Sanatana Dharma under the guidance of Rishis. His another pre-occupation was music.
He developed close relations with those who were dear to him. Among them was Ramachandra Singhji (who was Shri Ramakrishna ParamaHamsa), known as Rama Bhayi. Ramachandra Singhji was the son of Raanaa Lakshmana Singh, the brother-in-law of Late Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadeyar, the ruler of Mysore.
Being intimate, Ambareesha and Rama Bhayi used to help each other in their own and their family matters. In reality Ambareesha respected Rama Bhayi as Guru and regarded him as Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. With the intimacy lasting life-long, each was ready even to lay down his life for the other. Such was their benign friendship.
Ambareesha's another intimate companion was Rama Bhayi's brother Bharat Singhji. Two others were Pratap and Sridhar Rao. Sridhar Rao was a rich Brahmin jameenadar of Andhra Pradesh, owning plenty of lands. Steady and fortitude, he was very friendly with the people of the surrounding areas. He was A Great Devotee of Shri Satya Sai Baba and a Professional Artist. The Painting at Manovathi, Hunged at Shri Krishna Mandir A Brahmin conveying a message to A Stree was Done by Sridhar Rao and Given to Shri Ambareesha Varma) .Steady and fortitude, he was very friendly with the people of the surrounding areas. Yet another close friend of Ambareesha was the Christian Joseph (Who was Saint Peter, one of the 12 Disciples of Jesus Christ), who showed much interest in the ancient age-old religion and in spiritual matters. He had studied upto to the 10th standard with Ambareesha and Ravi. He learnt many things from Ambareesha, who had been teaching people around him. In fact Joseph was virtually a family member, who had unrestrained access to the household and looked after its requirements of essential goods and their supplies. Jai Kishan Das, who had come from Sindh province of Pakistan after India's partition, was another good friend of Ambareesha. So also Dhanapal, Narayanaswamy, Ramakrishna and Shambhu Prasad.
All these friends had close relationship with Ambareesha during his lifetime and thereafter continued the relationship with the members of his family (They were all the Members of EAGLETS GROUP– Every Ardent God loving Soul Enters Truth Sanctuary, Which was the First Group Formed By Ambareesha Varma under the Instructions of the Rishis).
Many people came to Ambareesha seeking astrological predictions and solutions to their problems.
He had to shoulder the family responsibilities as his father was preoccupied with matters concerning the lands. He took care of the household staff in Bangalore, his step mother, sisters and other relatives. Many of them, who lived in places like Mysore and Davanagere and who depended upon his father, were brought to Bangalore. He had two houses in the City. He also arranged for the education of his sisters.
In spite of all these mundane matters, his spiritual activities and his interactions with MahaRishi Vishwaamitra continued and went on increasing.
He had the habit of visiting the rural surroundings of Bangalore, enjoying the enchanting Nature. He used to sit in Meditation for longer hours.
Under the instructions of Markandeya MahaRishi, who was Incharge at that time of The Rishis Work on This Planet Earth, instructed Ambareesha Varma to go to the Hillock (Red Hills), near the village Nadagouda Gollahalli, and meditate for 48 days continuously under the Neem Tree Where Devi Pataalamma is Present as the GraamaDevatha without any Food and Water. On The 46th Day he saw a Golden Yellow Ball of Light Descending from Space, He tried to Locate it as it was coming Down, But He was Not Successful. The same thing happened on the 47th Day. On the 48th Day He was Successful in Finding the Place where the Golden yellow Ball of Light had Descended on a particular Place which was Reported to Markandeya MahaRishi. Markandeya MahaRishi asked Ambareesha Varma to Purchase that Place.
Consequently Ambareesha Varma`s father bought that piece of land and gifted it to his daughter-in-law Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai. This very piece of land later became the Rishis' Center / Sri Krishna's Center. and was Named as Manovati (Which is a Place in Chaturmukha BrahmaLoka in the Andromeda Galaxy where in the Manonmaya Koshas are manufactured which is known as Manovathi Nagara.
Setting up of The EAGLETS Institution
EAGLETS means Every Ardent God Loving Soul Enters Truth Sanctuary. This Group was set up by Ambareesha and his friends. A spiritual Group, it was headed by Rama Bhayi and its centre was Ambareesha's house.
The founder members of a similar mindset were:
- Ramachandra Singhji (Rama Bhayi)
- Ambareesha Varma
- Shambhu Prasad (from Gujarat)
- Pratap
- Sridhar Rao
- Joseph
- Govind Rao and
- Shaarada Devi.
The Group’s anniversary is celebrated every year on the founding day of, August 5th. On this day the members used to go on a Spiritual Hike and visit several places, especially to the hillocks near Ramanagar and Channapattana, Nandi Hills, or any other place of their choice. There they used to spend time in meditation and other spiritual activities. They also used to create awareness among villagers about the importance of health and help them maintain it. They used to spread knowledge in simple and comprehensible language about agriculture and spiritual pursuits.
Once when they were in Whitefield, Sri Satya Sabi Baba visited them in a house known as S.

Arrival of Tapasviji Maharaj and Setting of Udasi Ashrama
The members used to trek frequently in Nandi Hills and surrounding hillocks. In particular they used to go on August 5th to Nandagiri, Brahmagiri, Divyagiri (Dibbagiri), Channagiri and Skandagiri, near the Popular picnic spot Nandi Hills.
Vishwaamitra MahaRishi asked Guru Amara to purchase a land as A Sanyasi from North will be coming Soon, to which Amara asked to give a Clue as to Where exactly. To which MahaRishi Vishwaamitra said You will find a Crescent Moon-Like Valley while going on Your Spiritual Hike, nearby that you will find a Suitable Place for the purchase accordingly.
As Per the Guidance from Vishwaamitra MahaRishi the EAGLETS Group was going on a Spiritual Hike From Bengaluru towards Chikkaballapur by Train. Nearing Nandi Hills they saw a Crescent Shaped Formation between DivyaGiri and Brahmagiri Which was known as The New Moon Valley.
The crescent shaped formation that exists between Divyagiri and Brahmagiri, was named The New Moon Valley by the Rishis, which was The Place, Vishwaamitra MahaRishi had asked Guru Amara to trace.
Accordingly he went by train from Bangalore to the Nandi Railway Station near the Nandi Hills, stayed there two or three times and set himself to finding the strip of land. He realised that the Sanyasi from North would be visiting it and that a lot of spiritual activities would be taking place there.
Ambareesha's Marriage and the Rishi's Consent
At last while gazing at the sky from a particular spot in the valley, he saw the full moon just rising and ascending between the two hillocks. It was similar to the view of the shape of light he had seen earlier while in Dhyana. He showed the spot to Rishis who confirmed it and appreciated him for finding it on His own. Rishis further informed that a Sanyasi of the Udasi cult from the holy Mathura of North India, who had attained a high level spiritually, would start an Ashram there.
Justice Ananta Murthy, a retired judge, and a person with deep spiritual interests too had spotted the view of the full moon from the spot from where Guru Amara had discovered it. Tapasviji Maharaj (Shri Krishna’s Friend Sudhama/Kuchela), a great Sanyasi and ardent devotee of Bhagawaan Sri Krishna, from Kosikalan near Mathura once came to Bangalore on the invitation of Raanaa Lakshmana Singhji. The Wife of Maharaja of Mysore was having ill-health which was the reason for Tapasviji Maharaj to come to Bengaluru as they had known that Tapasviji Maharaj had cured Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya and others by Treating them with Kaaya-Kalpa.
Ananta Murthy requested Tapasviji to stay in Bangalore for some time and built an Ashram for him to stay and carry on his spiritual activities. There was a V-shaped tree near this Ashram. MahaRishi Vishwaamitra showed this tree to Guru Amara and told him to purchase the area containing the tree in the name of Shri Ramachandra Singhji (Rama Bhayi), who got it registered in his name and handed it over to the Ashram inmates for their own use.
Since Tapasviji Maharaj was a Sanyasi of the Udasi school his Ashram was named Udasi Ashrama. Justice Ananta Murthy gave the land along with the building on it to the Ashrama. He made all arrangements for Tapasviji Maharaj to stay there, along also provided a few cows. He left his 10-year-old son Sachchidananda there to look after the Sanyasi’s requirements.
Tapasviji Maharaj performed penance there for more than a year. Thereafter he used to visit the Ashrama from time to time from Kosikalan. He appreciated the services rendered by the young Sachchidananda and gave him Sanyasa deeksha. He was named as Sachchidananda Swamy, as the young boy not only served the seer devoutly, but also developed the interest and inclination for spiritual knowledge at his tender age. The young Swamy used to accompany his mentor wherever the latter went. After Tapasviji Maharaj left the Ashrama, it was managed by Justice Ananta Murthy and his wife. Guru Amara and his family members used to visit the Ashram every now and then and offered worship.
Guru Amara had a cordial relationship with Vadavan Maharaj of Gondal and Raanaa Lakshmana Singhji. Some of the well wishers suggested him to indulge in business. But that did not come off as his father was not in favour of it.
Attempt to Kill Ambareesha Varma by Poisoning
One more attempt was made to kill Ambareesha in 1948 before his marriage. Even though he did not harbour ill-will against anyone, some relatives hating him poisoned his food. He went to a German doctor for treatment who advised him to file a complaint so that the offenders could be brought to book as per the law. But Ambareesha did not agree.
Ambareesha writhed in pain as all his body was on fire due to poisoning. He knew that the offenders expected him to succumb to the pain. Angrily he asked his friend Joseph to drive these offenders away from the house. Joseph did so.
Then the MahaRishi Vashishtha entered his body, advised him to spread a plantain (Banana) leaf and lie down on it. After lying down on the plantain leaf for three days and leaving himself to the care of the MahaRishi Vashishtha and the doctors he was cured and returned to normal Health. Though he was cured in a surprising manner, his intestines were damaged severely and as a result he was beset by ill health for nearly five or six years. Joseph alone was with him during this period.
Ambareesha's Marriage and the Rishi's Consent
As he was engrossed in spiritual pursuits and Rishis work from his 12th age, Ambareesha ji did not marry till he was 30. Many offers were coming from royal families for marriage alliance and his father had been considering them; but Ambareesha used to decline them politely. He was under the control of the Rishis who would not give consent for his marriage till the right time came.
As if pre-determined, the MahaRishi Vishwaamitra gave consent for his marriage in 1950. As he was already 32 years of age, the MahaRishi advised him not to delay the marriage further. His father too began to look for a suitable bride in all earnestness.

The quest for the bride covered Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kathewad. The photographs of prospective brides were received. But Ambareesha did not show any enthusiasm. The life of a person following scrupulously the instructions of the Rishis would not be easy. MahaRishi Vishwaamitra had already a bride in his mind, who could easily adapt herself to Ambareeshji's divine lifestyle. He informed Ambareesha about her background and suggested that Ambareesha request his father to contact her parents.
The Rishi's choice fell on Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai, the daughter of a top police officer Manjirabad Venkatadri Venkataramanaswami Nayak (MVV Nayak, in short). He had decided that she was best suited for his disciple. M V V Nayak came from a kshatriya chieftain family of Manjirabad near Sakaleshpur in Hassan District of Karnataka. His wife Sharadamma belonged to a kshatriya chieftain family of Rayadurg in Andhra Pradesh. The two families were closely related. The grandmother of Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai was the sister of Ambareesha's grandfather. That is Sharadamma's mother was the sister of Raani Saraswati Bai's father.
The Nayak couple had a girl child on 31-5-1931, who was named Narayanammanni. Thereafter the name was changed to Susheelaa Bai(Yamuna Amsha). The girl first studied in Mysore and then in Vani Vilas Institute in Bangalore. She was initiated into Karnatak music by a music teacher of Nagapattana in Tamilu Nadu. Devoted to Bhagwaan Sri Krishna from childhood, she first offered her sweet dishes to her Bhagwaan Sri Krishna before partaking of them herself. Before going to the school, she went to a temple and kept the dish there without anyone seeing it. She behaved like this lest the priest would get angry. No priest ever came across the dish.
The instructions given to Ambareesha came to be known to those around him. MVV Nayak also wished to marry off his daughter to Ambareesha.
MVV Nayak was admitted to a hospital with ill-health. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai nursed him and she was taken for rest by Ambareesha to the house on Viviyani Road in Richards Town, where his step mother and step sisters lived. The very next day, on November 12, 1950, Shri Nayak breathed his last.
MahaRishi Vishwaamitra, who had instructed Ambareesha to marry Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai, told him that he should lead a normal married life for 10 years, during which period the Rishi would not contact him. After much persuasion by friends and relatives the marriage was settled.
Ambareesha wished for a simple registered marriage. After Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's father's death the family matters were managed by the grand father, who was the respected elder of the family. He did not agree for this marriage, but her mother did not object to it as she was aware of her husband's wish. But she wanted the marriage to be performed with grandeur and religious rites, befitting her royal lineage. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's bothers too were not in favour of the marriage. Because of the differences in the family, a message was sent to Ambareesha that the simple registered marriage favoured by him was not acceptable.
In December 1950, a few days before the marriage took place, Ambareesha and his close associate Joseph went to the house of Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's mother in Vishwesvarapura in Bangalore. The effort made by Joseph to arrange a meeting between Ambareesha and the girl did not succeed. They returned empty-handed as Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's mother would not allow the meeting between the two. But later Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's brother Govindaraj did succeed in it. With their combined efforts, Govindaraj, Shaaradaa Devi, Rama Bhayi and Joseph persuaded the members of Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's family for the alliance.
Then on December 16, 1950, they fixed the date, time and venue to bring about the meeting between the prospective bride and bridegroom. The same evening before 5 p.m, Govindaraj took his sister Susheela Bai to a small vacant place near the Glass House in Lal Baugh, Bangalore. Rama Bhai and Shaaradaa Devi and later Ambareesha and Joseph arrived there.
Thereafter Ambareesha took Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai, Govindaraj, and Joseph by car towards the Cantonment area of Bangalore. On the way, Joseph stopped the car and brought cashew nuts, liked by Ambareesha and pedha for Susheela Bai. Ambareesha tied his own wrist watch on Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's wrist.
Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai experienced tender feelings, natural to a soon-to-become bride; but she was helpless, unable to give vent to them. She was already scared and suppressed her feelings. Her helplessness was compounded further and the situation was stifled further since the far-from-the-ordinary man, sitting beside her in the car, maintained a stiff and uninviting silence. It was a situation tinged with her scare and his silence.
The car proceeded towards the Nandi Hills. They stopped near the Vishnu Ashrma (Udasi Ashrama).
Ambareesha seated her in the shade of a tree and himself sat on a nearby stone. He shot a question at her: Do you like me? She replied yes, with her voice trembling at the direct question. I am not rich. I am Sanyasi-like. I cannot give you luxuries, he continued. She did not respond and remained quiet and shaking. She had never come out and had never spoken with any man thus. This was the first time she was facing such a situation. After about 15 minutes all of them retuned to Bangalore.
In the car Susheela Bai said politely: I will not go to my house. Take me to your house. Do not leave me alone. If you do, I will give up my life. Ambareesha just heard her out, not carried away by any emotions. On reaching Bangalore, he left her at her mother's house and returned to his own in Cook Town.
Fortunately, her return at home went un-noticed as everyone was busy in their own occupations. Silence pervaded the entire household. She sighed in relief and went to sleep, without taking food. No one had known where she had gone? Why she had gone? Or when she had returned. Everyone seemed unconcerned. The Rishi’s had ensured that the latest incidents remained shrouded in secrecy.
Next day Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's brother Govindaraj met Ambareesha, Rama Bhayi, Joseph and Shaaradaa Devi at Sajjan Rao Circle situated near his house and informed them of what his grand father had told everyone in the household. The grand father had his misgivings natural to his age. On no account I will send Susheelaa Bai with Ambareesha. He is rich. He may do harm to my granddaughter. He may desert her and go away Govindaraj told Ambareesha and his friends that it was upto them to placate the grandfather and persuade him.
Agreeing do so, Rama Bhai and Joseph went to Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's mother's house, met her grandfather. After much persuasion they succeeded in convincing him. The grandfather's misgivings were dispelled and he was at peace.
A simple marriage was conducted at Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's mother's house in Vishweshvarapura on December 16 1950. Ambareesha and Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai exchanged garlands under the portrait of Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's father MVV Nayak and became husband and wife as per the practice of Gaandharva Vivaaha. Only a few dear and near ones were present. Rama Bhayi, Joseph, Shaaradaa Devi, Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's mother Shardamma, her two brothers, the younger brother Govindaraj and the grandfather.
The couple had the blessings of the Rishis through a divine light that appeared then and was visible to them. Thus Ambareesha and Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai embarked upon their married life.
Welcoming the Bride
Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai was sent to her husband's house, draped in a green sari by her mother with blessings. Ambareesha's father B G Desai also blessed the couple and told his daughter-in-law that he had looked after his son all this time and that he was now entrusting that task to her.
Ambareesha then took his wife to the house of his step mother Krishnaa Bai in Richards Town and told her to receive the daughter-in-law, which surprised the householders. Koushalyaa Bai, wife of Krishnaa Bai's brother offered the traditional Aarati to the couple and the ritual of welcoming a new bride to the house was conducted. Sweets were already been prepared by the step mother for the occasion.
After sumptuous meal Ambareesha went to his rented house in Milton Road of Cook Town with Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai and began the married life with her. The husband and wife were happy for some time.
The marriage registration office was then not in Bangalore and they had to go to Chennai (then called Madras). Since marriage registration had to be done within 15 days, the couple went to Chennai along with Joseph, Rama Bhayi and Shaaradaa Devi. On The way to Chennai, Ambareesha Varma Stopped at a Place where there were Idols of Divinities at the Instance of his Wife Susheela Bai, His wife Choose a Bhagwaan Sri Krishna Idol and asked her Husband to Purchase the Same Idol, which Ambareesha Varma did. This Sri Krishna’s Idol one can See at Manovathi at the Krishna Mandira.
Next day they went to the Registration office. The provisions of the marriage registration law were read to them. The judge asked Ambareesha Varma if they had brought the symbols of the marriage - like Tali, Ring etc. for which Ambareesha Varma replied in the negative. Even garlands were not there. The judge then got all particulars filled in the registration form and got the signatures of the couple and registered the marriage, as he was convinced that they belonged to a respectable family.
Life at Cook Town House
The rented house in Cook Town was quite big. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai used to fast for four days in week, Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. As this impaired her health, Shaaradamma suggested that she should stop it or reduce the number of days. Agreeing to her suggestion, Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai started fasting only two days - Mondays and Saturdays.
Once the glass of a window in the Cook Town house broke as some miscreants threw stones at the window. A piece of the broken glass hit Ambareesha's left eye. But he remained calm and patiently suffered the pain from the wound. He was treated at an eye clinic, the glass piece was removed from his eye and he recovered in a few days. His tolerance level was so high!
Ambareesha Varma and his brother Ravi Varma Desai were offered the posts of Ambassadors in foreign countries. The brothers consulted their father, B G Desai. The latter was of the strong view that as Kshtriyas they should not be subordinate to any one. He was a highly self-respecting man. On his advice, his sons rejected the offer to uphold the family dignity.
Around the same time, Rama Bhai asked both the brothers to take up the contract supervision work in his company Rocksetters. But their father was against this offer too.
Couple Works for Livelihood
As mentioned earlier, Ambareesha's marriage took place on the advice of the Rishis. No elders of the family were present during marriage. Bride's family had not given dowry as was the tradition. There was no grandeur surrounding the marriage like the royal marriages. All this led to ill-will between the members, the family and those in charge of the family's jameenadaari system. Therefore the flow of money to the couple in due course of time dried up. They found it difficult to make both ends meet.
Grown up as they were in luxury and comforts, they had never given a thought to money matters. But now an inevitable circumstance had arisen in which they had to earn money for their livelihood.
Ambareesha Varma had purchased a house in the Cantonment area for Rs 3,000 and it was in his possession for a few years. During rains the roof leaked. To raise money for repairing it, He thought of renting it out. But the elders, especially his own near relatives, came in the way. They did not let Ambareesha and Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai to live in that house. Nor to give it on rent.
They prompted Ambareesha's father into selling it.
Ambareesha strove hard for day-to-day living. Even though under pressure he would not lose his composure. He was friendly to all those around him. He conducted his transactions justly and honestly. He was content with whatever he earned. Even though he was in constant touch with Rishis, he never sought any worldly gains from them even at times of extreme difficulties.
The sisters and brothers of Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai lived with the couple. She had to provide food for them and fulfil all their needs. They were dropped to the school by Ambareesha in his car and escorted back home.
She would be fully exhausted by the time she completed all the daily chores. She used to slip into sleep even while making garlands. And when she woke up, she would be surprised to see the garlands fully made and also neatly arranged! She would believe that some divine hand would be doing this. She would then be more recharged. She would travel alone frequently by bus in the city for various activities and would return home late in the night. She knew that a divine force protected her and saw her safely reach home even at those unearthly hours inspite of the lurking dangers. This had made her cultivate the mindset of facing any contingency with fortitude.
The Ambaresh family had kept a dog to protect themselves from strangers. A snake used to slither around in the compound. It also used to protect the householders from any danger. But both would not harm the servants and others frequenting the house.
Some times those ill-disposed towards the couple did try to fish in troubled waters and harass the latter. They provoked the servants to steal goods from the house. But the household did not suffer much loss; on the other hand the couple received divine help and blessings when they were in trouble.
Manovati (The Rishis Centre)
It has been recounted that Ambareesha's father B G Desai had come to know of a previous incident-of Ambareesh coming across, a ball of the light descending from the sky and touching the ground where the existing Manovati centre now stands, while he was doing meditation near a tree on a red hillock at Nadagouda Gollahalli near Dodda Gubbi and his other worldly experiences and that B G Desai had decided on the directions of the Rishis to buy that very piece of land foreseeing a lot of spiritual activities there in the future. There was another motive for him to purchase the land.
It has been narrated that B G Desai was a good tennis player. While he was playing, there was a sincere ball boy by name Babulal. In gratitude for his service, B G Desai gave the keys of his iron safe to Babulal after the latter's retirement and asked him to take as much money as he wished. But Babulal took only Rs 10,000. Along with this money, B G Desai gave him a tweed coat, a piece of mercerized Bombay Mal cloth and enough money to travel to Bangalore. It is a rare example of a noble gesture by a master and utmost loyalty of a servant! It is not possible even to think of such a relationship these days.
Babulal came to Bangalore with the money and purchased a piece of land near the Manovati centre. After a time he sold it for some reasons. The land on which Manovati centre stands was shown to B G Desai by Babulal himself. This was the very land where the ball of light had appeared, as recounted earlier. For these reasons, B G Desai bought this land of 55 acres in extent for Rs 6,500 in 1953-54 and got it registered in the name of Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai Ambareesha Varma. These incidents have taken place as per the wishes of the Rishis.
Birth of a Girl Child
Ambareesha Varma and Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai did not have any issues for a few years after marriage.
But the Rishis wished that the couple should have a child.
The Rishis understood that in a small princely State of North India the prince was killed in a battle with a neighbouring princely State. The victorious prince wanted to marry the widow of the vanquished one. But she was a woman devoted to her late husband and did not want to fulfill the wish of the conquering prince. To escape from him, she ended her life. The prince was adamant and vowed to marry her at least in the next birth. Rishis appreciated her pativrata dharma and resolved to protect her in the subsequent birth too.
Hence, Rishis chose Ambareesha and Susheela Bai couple for this purpose.
Accordingly the female child was born on March 7, 1955. And was named Usha. When the child was 11 months old, the Rishis rescued her from a serious illness with divine medication.
On the child's birth day, a cake was bought with the name Usha inscribed on it. However mystery awaited when the wrapper of the cake was opened. The word Usha was not on the cake, instead, there was the word Maitreyi, to everyone's surprise! The couple understood that Rishis have changed the name of the child from Usha to Maitreyi.
Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's Firm Resolve
On hearing the not-so-comfortable situation of Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai, her mother and brothers were unhappy and came to her house to take her back. Her daughter was then one year old. The relatives had brought some elders to persuade her to leave her husband and return to the parental family. Guru Maathe Susheela Bai was of the firm at opinion that a woman had to spend her life with her husband and share all his joys and sorrows and firmly To declined to return to her mother's house, leaving Amara to his fate. She point blank told her people that Amara was an extraordinary person and that there was no question of her ever deserting him.
Growing Responsibility and the Couple's Concern
Amara's brother Ravi Varma Desai died on 13 August 1955. Though Ravi Varma had gone in adoption to Khande Rao Desai, his relations with his brother had been close. Now after Ravi Varma's death, Amara took over the responsibility for the well-being of his brother's widow and two children and brought them to his own house.
We may recall here the consent of MahaRishi Vishwaamitra to Amara 's marriage with Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai and his resolve not to meet him for 10 years so that he could carry on with married life. Amara was however unhappy because of the missing link with the Rishi consequent upon his marriage. He shared this feeling with Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai, who also became unhappy, thinking that she become an obstacle to his spiritual pursuits.
The friends and relatives of the couple were under the impression that the latter were happy in their married life with all the wealth to lead a luxurious life. No one came to know of or grasp the unhappiness which they kept with themselves. The couple also never shared all these matters with anyone since the materialistic people would not be in a position to understand the predicament of a spiritual couple!
Couple's Holy Visits and Arrival of Bhagawaan Sri Krishna Idol
The couple paid a visit to Shivaganga Ashram near Tumkur in Karnataka in 1957 with children and received the blessings of a Sanyaasini who was supposed to be an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. Thereafter they called upon Mouna Swamy at his hermitage.
Once in her dream, Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai saw a round-shaped light. The light was then transformed into Bhagawaan Sri Krishna. After waking up from the dream, she went around in the Cook Town area in eager quest of this light and Bhagawaan Sri Krishna. She could not come across them and was disappointed. On return home she narrated to Sachchidananda Swami her dream vision exactly as she had seen it. Swamiji just gave a silent look and did not say anything.
Incidentally, the followers of Tapasviji Maharaj were preparing to install an idol of him near Mathura and they had ordered for a huge idol at Kosi Kalan near Delhi. While the sculptor was chiselling the special marble stone, a small piece came out and he had a vision that he has to make an idol of Bhagawaan Sri Krishna out of it and it had to reach a devotee of the Bhagawaan Sri Krishna in Dakshina Bhaaratha!
Meanwhile, a function was arranged at Nandi Ashrama (at the foot of Nandi Hills) on the occasion of Tapasviji's Death anniversary. On this occasion the Shiva Linga was to be installed there. There was a huge gathering including some of the followers of Tapasviji Maharaj who were Maha Rajas and Maharanis of various states and also some high profile people. Shri Shiv Chand Lal, a senior member in the group who was closely known to Tapasviji told Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai to offer Naivedya to Bhagawaan Sri Krishna. With all sincerity she went to the shrine atop the small rockhill. A pleasant surprise awaited her there. The same idol of Bhagawaan Sri Krishna which she saw in her dream was kept there. She was thrilled and in an ecstatic mood she hugged the idol and for a moment she just forgot herself. Thus the idol of Bhagawaan Sri Krishna arrived miraculously.Even now this Idol is being worshipped in the Pooja room of Guru Amara’s House
Family's Stay in Dharwad
In due course, the lawyer handling the family's immovable property cases, wanted Ambareesha Varma to go to Dharwad to settle the disputes, as the family had lived there for about five years and Ambareesha Varma travelled there for work now and then.
Vijaya Varma and Saraswati, the children of Ravi Varma, joined a convent in Dharwad. Ambareesha Varma’s step-mother took care of them for nearly a year and a half, before Guru Maathe Susheela Bai took over the responsibility.
Ambareesha Varma took over the management, from his father, of the family estates situated in Dharwad, Gokak, Koujalgi, Kakkeri, Yadavad, Ramapur and 114 villages. This required constant movement between Bangalore and Dharwad.
Susheela Bai's Spiritual Activities and Saraswati Bai's Blessings
One day when the family was in Dharwad, Guru Maathe Susheela Bai was much worried about family matters. As she sat engrossed in these thoughts, she saw a booklet thrown at her. There was no one around and she did not know who had thrown it. It was a book of hymns, propitiating different Gods and had the name of Puttananjammanni (Susheela Bai's late mother-in-law Rani Saraswati Bai), with the year of purchase, 1914, written on it. She took it as a blessing from her mother-in-law and began chanting the hymns. This helped her regain her mental composure.
The family was always energetic and engaged in various activities. The daughter Maitreyi had the company of , Guru Maathe Susheela Bai's brothers, sister Madhu and other children. Susheela Bai's hands were full, attending to the needs of nine children, with no time to attend to her own chores. When she found some time she would light an agarabatti and meditate, visualizing the figure of Bhagawaan Sri Krishna. Thus, she acquired spiritual strength and was able to lead a pious life.
She could foretell who would come to their house and for what purpose. The spiritual experiences gave her enough fortitude and she was able to get over her depression.
At one point of time, she decided to do penance to accelerate her spiritual progress. But a Guru was needed to guide her. Looking at her husband's spiritual work from close quarters for nearly 10 years, she realised that there could not be a better Guru than her own husband. Also, the traditions and restrictions of the royal family were such that she could not approach an outsider.
One day she told Ambareesha Varma that she wished to go out and enjoy the enchanting Nature. The couple went out with Her sister and brothers. They stopped by a Hillock on the way. It was almost sunset. All of them enjoyed the beauty of the rural environment. Guru Maathe Susheela Bai then recited a mantra and asked the husband if it was right. She then took his hand and kept it on her head. In a way, her Mantra Deeksha had been done.
Worship of Husband and Blessings of MahaRishi Vashistha
Guru Maathe Susheela Bai washed her Husband's feet with turmeric water every morning and evening and worship him. Then she recited the mantra and did Dhyana. She kept a fast and wished to continue it for 21 days. But gradually this weakened her physically. Ambareesha Varma noticed it and advised her to take some nutritious food. As was the practice, on the 9th day, she brought water for the husband's bath. Just then someone in the garb of a sanyasi called her by name to come out of the house. Scared, she asked her husband, who was in the bathroom to come out and find out who that person was. Ambareesha Varma came out and his face lit up with a smile when he realized that it was none else than MahaRishi Vashistha. The MahaRishi blessed Guru Maathe Susheela Bai, that she would get everything she wished for in life.
Sometime thereafter, MahaRishi Vishwamitra appeared and informed Guru Maathe Susheela Bai that was she was being tested for her loyalty to the husband. He added that she had passed the test successfully, that she should encourage him in his spiritual quest and that she herself would progress remarkably well in her spiritual endeavours. All this made her extremely happy and she thought that her worldly troubles were over. She obtained equanimity by her penance, which pleased the MahaRishi as well.
Ambareesha Varma said that she had emerged successfully from the test by her own efforts and involvement and contended that the couple would make still more efforts for spiritual attainments under the guidance of the MahaRishi.
In the coming year’s Guru Maathe Susheela Bai remained celibate, attending to her husband's needs. The MahaRishi entrusted to him certain spiritual work to be done in the astral form. He locked himself in a room for days together. Guru Maathe Susheela Bai alone knew this and ensured that he was not disturbed. She looked after his requirements after his work was over and he returned to normal life.
Guru Maathe Susheela Bai was of the firm view that the first and foremost duty of the wife was loyalty to her husband, immaterial of his nature. She was also of the view that a woman should not desire another man; nor be jealous of another woman's beauty. If she followed this strictly, she would gain enough spiritual prowess even from the gods, not to speak of humans.
B G Desai's Death, Property Disputes and Court Cases
B G Desai was getting old. During his early years, he managed property matters by sheer strength; but no longer, as he had become weak. Ambareesha Varma who had returned to Bangalore, went back to Dharwad with Guru Maathe Susheela Bai and daughter Maitreyi in 1962 to help his father. But his family did not find living there conducive. His relations also did not want him to live there. Every one foresaw that the property would have to be divided after B G Desai's death.
Guru Maathe Susheela Bai regarded B G Desai as her own father. She worshipped Bhagwaan Ishwara for 16 weeks to ward off the misfortunes that might befall the family. No one is permanent on this earth. Each one has to experience the effects of their Karma. B G Desai's end was nearing. He suffered from brain hemorrhage.
He gave Tulasi leaf with water to Guru Maathe Susheela Bai and blessed her. She alone looked after him till his very end. He breathed his last and left this world in June 1963. Thousands of people paid respect to him after his death. The last rites were held in his native place Koujalgi, attended by hundreds of estate workers, important persons and many other invitees.
B G Desai was aware in his last days that the division of the ancestral property would not be easy after his death. He tried to resolve the property issues when he was alive and bequeathed property to his second wife and children justly and equitably. His concern was, as he had told Guru Maathe Susheela Bai, to ensure that Ambareesha Varma did not have any problems. He assured Ravi Varma's wife that he would reasonably apportion property to her and exhorted her not to pick up quarrel with Ambareesha Varma.
But that was not to be. Several disputes cropped up as expected. Matters went to court since amicable settlements were not forthcoming. Ambareesha Varma was forced to attend courts frequently, to seek justice.
Acid attack on Ambareesha Varma – Sri Raama Bhaktha Hanumaan's Darshana and Blessings by Mother
When Ambareesha Varma was living in the Dharwad house, someone (probably a servant) threw acid on his face, instigated by some outsiders. The miscreants had done it at midnight so that he would lose his eyes. However, the acid fell on his left cheek, severely damaging it but the eyes were safe. He was treated at Dharwad and gradually the wound healed. To overcome such a trail of troubles, his wife Guru Maathe Susheela Bai undertook penance for some time.
In spite of these hurdles, Ambareesha Varma did not slacken his spiritual activities. Once Sri Raama Bhaktha Hanumaan appeared before him and asked him if preferred worldly pleasures or the path that led to spiritual uplift. Ambareesha Varma opted for the latter.
At times, his mother Rani Saraswati Bai appeared astarally to advise him on and bless him. All this provided him much needed solace and strength.
An exhibition of sugarcane peels was once held in his house in Dharwad. The objects were burnt accidentally. A figure appeared in the shape of Kaala Bhairava Thereafter a good-natured woman was seen assuring them that everything would be all right.
The spiritual prowess of Ambareesha Varma went on growing. He was able to see whatever was beyond the ken of physical eyes. For instance, He could foretell who would be visiting his house at any time.
Return to Bangalore from Tegur
Ambareesha Varma shifted to nearby Tegur from Dharwad in 1962 owing to certain family concerns. This house had no facilities for water, which had to be brought from Tegur village, some distance away. Lush greenery around the house brought in the menace of mosquitoes. Guru Maathe Susheela Bai had to apply kerosene to her feet and cover them when going to sleep. The family put up with all these inconveniences. Sometime in 1964 they returned to Bangalore.
Amazing feat of car hub
Ambareesha Varma continued to visit Dharwad on work. On one occasion, on return from Dharwad, he drove to a petrol station near Imperial Cinema hall near Brigade Road in the Cantonment area of Bangalore. He was seated in the car along with his friend SDO Moily while Guru Maathe Susheela Bai was seated at the back. After filling petrol he and Moily got down and went to the office of the petrol bunk across the road to make the payment. Just then, Mr. Moily saw a boy doing something near the car. Ambareesha Varma had paid the bill and he too saw the boy from a distance. Surprisingly, by the time he reached the car the boy was not there! They found that a hub cap, missing at Tegur, had been fixed in its place. They realized that MahaRishi Vishwamitra came in the form of the boy to avert any mishap.
Back to the Cook Town House
When the family returned to Bangalore from Dharwad, Ambareesha Varma alone lived in the rented house in Cook Town. Vishwamitra Maharishi performed the Divya Hamsa Pooja in November 1965. Guru Maathe Susheela Bai and her daughter had to live away from the house on the MahaRishi`s instructions and Ambareesha Varma’s wish. They shifted to Vishveshvarapuram with Guru Maathe Susheela Bai's mother Sharadamma. Ambareesha Varma, who was then busy with Rishis' work, often kept his wife informed of all the divine experiences. Details of the Divya Hamsa Pooja are mentioned in the book Amara Vaani.
Guru Maathe Susheela Bai prepared and carried light food for Ambareesha Varma daily from the Vishveshvarapuram house to the Cook Town house during this period.
Supreme God Jagadeesha ParaBrahma and message of greetings
One day a well-dressed man paid visit to Ambareesha Varma’s house. He had brought a suitcase and a greeting card from one S G Jagadeesha. He kept them in the house and left. Ambareesha Varma did not know any one by that name. He thought for a moment and then realized that S G Jagadeesha meant Supreme God Jagadeesha. There was also a message in the suitcase that thereafter Ambareesha Varma should keep his clothes in that suitcase. He did so accordingly.
Guru Maathe Susheela Bai always found the Cook Town house scrupulously clean as also Ambareesha Varma’s clothes, even though servants were not allowed inside. Ambareesha Varma was not cleaning the house or washing his clothes either. This could only be ascribed only to divine intervention.
On another occasion, Ambareesha Varma received a greeting card. When he opened it he found some writing which was visible to him. After he read it, the writing disappeared and the paper went blank.

Fire Worship at Shiva Centre and Burying the Holy Fire
The Agni lit by Vishwamitra Maharishi at the Divya Hamsa Pooja in 1965 was to be offered worship in the Shiva centre in Tegur and buried underground after Mangalarati at sunrise before it was extinguished. Accordingly, Ambareesha Varma, Guru Maathe Susheela Bai and the children planned to leave Bangalore by car in the afternoon and reach the Shiva Centre in Tegur early next morning. Guru Maathe Susheela Bai had kept with herself the holy fire and Ambareesha Varma had the seven pots. On the way, the car had a tyre puncture before reaching Tegur. From nowhere, a Punjabi Sikh appeared on the scene and repaired the tyre!
On reaching Dharwad, Ambareesha Varma took the pots to a soldering shop, placed one pot in the middle and the other six around it and got them all soldered in such a manner that the pots touched one another without a gap between them. Guru Maathe Susheela Bai and the children were in the car. As this work took time, they were already late for the important task - i.e. offering Mangalarati to the Agni Deva exactly at sunrise next morning.
Guru Maathe Susheela Bai had her own apprehensions but Ambareesha Varma was at peace!
They reached Tegur, cleansed themselves, buried the Agni at a specified place and offered Mangalarati twice to the Agni and the pots. Sunrise broke out just then! The compassionate Rishi’s had delayed the sunrise so that the pooja and Mangalarati could take place at the right time!
Spiritual Prowess of Ambareesha Varma
The performance and witnessing the Divya Hamsa Pooja increased the spiritual prowess of Ambareesha Varma many fold. He could foresee who would visit his house and also the purpose of their visit. He was able to give to his family members the names of such people and other details. Events happened as Ambareesha Varma had divined! He was also able to recognise people he had known in previous births and those he would meet in this birth. He could talk to some people about their previous births. Above all, he could help out the people around him fulfill their wishes and overcome their obstacles.
Helping the Helpless
While studying for BA (Honours), Manjunath, the youngest brother of Guru Maathe Susheela Bai, attended for the examinations conducted by the National Defence Academy with the intention of joining the armed forces.
He did well in theory examinations, but not so well in the tests of physical strength and endurance. Therefore, he was suffering from high temperature. He had passed all the tests done in Mysore on that day, but during medical examination, some sound was noticed to emerge from his heart. The examiners decided that he had some health problem and had almost rejected his candidature. The depressed Manjunath told Ambareesha Varma of this. The latter assured him that he need not worry and that all would be well. On the day of viva voce, Ambareesha Varma told Manjunath to go by his car and that at the entrance to the place where the interview was to be held, a man wearing hat would meet him and take all steps for his selection. Accordingly, that man in fact met Manjunath, sought from him all details and accompanied him to the panel of four Air Force interviewer-doctors. The doctors told Manjunath that his heart was functioning normally and gave him the certificate to that effect. Finally Manjunath was selected. The grateful Manjunath looked around for that man with the hat to express his gratitude. But surprisingly that man was not anywhere around.

The Rishis had helped him in this task.
Setu Ramaswamy Raju, the second eldest brother of Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai, had to go to USA for research in Botany. As he was standing in the long queue for getting the visa, Ambareesha Varma told him that he need not join the queue and that he would get the visa in two or three days. And he got it accordingly. Again the miracle of the Rishis.
Once Guru Maathe Susheela Bai went to Cook Town house of Ambareesha Varma along with her mother, aunt, sister and brother Manjunath. The car was driven by Manjunath. When they came out of the house at midnight to return home, they saw the door of the car opening on its own. Manjunath wanted to enter the car, but Ambareesha Varma prevented him, telling him not to sit in the car for some time. He did pradakshina around the car and prayed. Then he asked Manjunath and others to enter the car. Accordingly all of them proceeded to their house. While on way home, the car dashed against a horse-driven cart on Mahatma Gandhi Road at around midnight and they had to wait there for some time. Some people were about pick up quarrel with them. Immediately a tall man came along, removed the cart to a side and suggested that the car be driven further, promising himself to look after on-the-spot affairs. So car inmates reached the house without any untoward incident. None in the car or the horse cart was injured. When informed of this, Ambareesha Varma said it was the miraculous act of the Rishis. They had warded off the possible mishap if the inmates of the car had occupied it and driven off immediately after the door was opened on its own.
An Air Force officer was severely ill and was almost on the death bed. His depressed and distressed wife was just 25 years old, but looked much older. The officer invited all his friends and relatives for a party. Among the invitees were Ambareesha Varma and Dr. NM Thimmarayappa. Ambareesha Varma ji just gazed at the ailing airman and gave a solemn assurance that he would not only survive but would also progress in his career. And that's what exactly happened! He not only survived but also got a promotion. He is alive even now.
An electrical inspector from a village was severely affected by elephantiasis and was on the verge of death. When Ambareesha Varma and Guru Maathe Susheela Bai paid a visit to him, the latter took the ailing man to the doctor. Ambareesha Varma cured him of the deadly disease by self-inflicting the patient's disease. He had however to pay for his generosity by putting up himself with the scourge for nearly two years.
Similarly Ambareesha Varma saved another gangrene afflicted person from his heart problem. Again by self-inflicting it. Taking on themselves all the sufferings of others is in fact the hallmark of great personalities.
Miracles at the Cook Town House
- A star-shaped, one foot high bamboo casket was created by the Rishis specially to cure Guru Maathe Susheela Bai's ailing younger brother Srinivasa Raju. On the advice of Ambareesha Varma, Raju opened the casket and witnessed the surprise an exquisite, three feet high and flower- decked idol of Bhagawaan SatyaNarayana, which was in the casket.Raju had Parkinson's disease with both hands constantly trembling. When his right hand was afflicted by it first, he practised using the left hand for eating and other daily chores. After some time the left hand was also disabled. Ambareesha Varma gave the casket to Raju and told him to worship the Bhagawaan regularly. But Raju did not heed his advice; instead he gave the casket to his mother-in-law, who was in Chitradurga Consequently the family had to suffer a few deaths. The purpose for which the casket was made remained unfulfilled.
- One early morning a sadhu arrived at Ambareesha Varma's house and woke him up, telling him that he had come from Kashi. He did not perform morning ablutions and with his kamandalu (a traditional pot carried by Rishis) directly entered the prayer room, which was heavily-draped and therefore invisible from outside and where Ambareesha Varma used to meditate. He told Ambareesha Varma to meditate and himself followed suit. Just then a large, light brownish spider's web grew on an electric pole outside the compound wall of the house. And from the kamandalu, which was placed on a stool in the prayer room, oozed a long streak of vibhooti (Holy ash). Ambareesha Varma heard the sound of a drum and felt as if the entire house was shaking from that sound as also from Bhagawaan Shiva's Divine Tandava Dance. Heartened to the core he asked his family people to come and feel this extra ordinary event, but they could not. The sadhu instructed Ambareesha Varma to tell his Shiva-devout mother-in-law Sharadamma to come to the house in the evening and remove the Holy Ash. Accordingly she did and kept the heap of ash for use subsequently. Even as she was cleaning the prayer room off the holy ash, the spider web on the electric pole vanished and so also the Sadhu! Sharadamma also noticed below the heap of ash the idols of Shiva and Ganapati and some Rudrakshis and started worshipping them then onwards.
- The owner of the American Radio Shop on Narasimharaja Road near City Market, Bangalore, comes to the Cook Town house one day to invite Ambareesha Varma and Guru Maathe Susheela Bai for a marriage. The couple was not at home. They were at Guru Maathe Susheela Bai's mother's house at Vishveshwarapram. But a person resembling Ambareesha Varma appeared at the compound and escorted the visitor inside. The person requested the visitor to sit inside the house and told him that he would bring coffee; but the visitor declined pleading that no one was in the house, left the invitation card and went away. A strange force had thus played the role of the host in Ambareesha Varma's absence!
- Moyili, Sub-Divisional Officer of Shiggaon Town had invited Ambareesha Varma to participate in a procession by car of Prophet Mohammed's hair. Accepting the invitation, Ambareesha Varma carried the hair in his own car. He was beyond all distinctions of castes, faiths and religions. He was in fact the very embodiment of the Rishi's message: sab hai samaan, sab me ek praan (all are equal; all inhale the same breath)
Incidents in Vishweshwarapuram House
Some times when Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai was about to go out, she used to feel sandalwood and vibhooti smeared over her body and immediately she would return home. The followers of the demon Yavanasura were ever subjecting the household members of Ambareesha Varma to a variety of harassments as a revenge. (Rakshasik forces would be always working against divinity) When Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai and her sister Madhu went out, they saw a helicopter flying past them at a close proximity making a loud noise as though it would fall on them. They would virtually tremble. Due to the speed and cacophony of the helicopter, even the branches of coconut trees would shake noisily. Madhu (younger sister of Guru Maathe Susheela Bai) sometimes used to suffer burnt wounds on her body due to the demon's mischief when she was in the Vishweshwarapuram house. Yet another strange incident once took place. The household members saw Ambareesha Varma and the MahaRishi Vishwaamitra drive away in their Buick car to the Red Hills (the red-coloured hillock at the Manovathi Centre - Rishi's Centre, near Bangalore). Surprisingly the car was moving in the air a few feet above the ground, without touching it.

The Manifestation of the Symbol Vishwamaitri
At one time Ambareesha Varma and the family members had gone to Kannambadi to fetch water from the River Cauvery and had stayed at the Das Prakash hotel. He told his people to move around and enjoy the charm of the nature. He himself sat in the hotel room, lighted up an agarabatti stick and engaged himself in meditation. The ash falling from the burning agarabatti took a particularly enchanting shape. This very shape was in the later days became the Vishwamaitri Symbol.
On their way back they stopped at a particular place again to enjoy the Nature's beauty. Ambareesha Varma, an amateur photographer, took some snaps. They all returned to Bangalore. It was then that they realised the folly-that Ambareesha Varma had left the camera inadvertently outside the car, while they were still away from Bangalore.
They had lost both the camera and the exposed films.
But a pleasant surprise was waiting to happen. Three months later when Ambareesha Varma was moving in Brigade Road Bangalore, someone with the profusion of long white beard and with white dress like a Father of a church approached him and handed over his camera!
Mantra Deekshaa to Maitreyi
The less-than-10-year-old Maitreyi, Ambareesha Varma daughter, had been urging her father to give some mantra deeksha to her. During a visit of the family members to the Someshwara temple in Halasuru of Bangalore, Ambareesha Varma asked his daughter to keep her hand in a small hole in the outer Prakaara wall of the Someshwara Temple. Maitreyi did so and found a piece of paper with the Saraswati mantra inscribed over it. Thus started her deekshaa, she had immense benefit from it and in later years she attained spiritual elevation.
Life Span of Ambareesha Varma, Construction of Manovati Building and Opening of Vishwamaitri Trust
The younger brother of his wife once asked Ambareesha Varma You are a good astrologer. You can tell about many events even before they happen. Do you know your own future and your life span? Ambareesha Varma replied that his life span was initially till 1974. But since the Rishis expected to get some specific work done by him, it would continue till August 1982, he added. This conversation was heard by his wife and daughter. From the hindsight of future happenings, his prediction was fully accurate.
It has already narrated that since the death of his father B G Desai, Ambareesha Varma had returned to Bangalore from Dharwad with the family members. After B G Desai had purchased the area where the Manovathi Centre (Rishi's Centre) stood, Ambareesha Varma decided to build a small building there to facilitate his Dhyana whenever he visited the area. In 1966, when the building was under construction. Ambareesha Varma had an experience in his house.
One day he had purchased some fittings for the bathroom in the house under construction, took them to his house and was to carry them to the construction site the next day. As usual he had slept alone in his room. At midnight he woke up, went to another room in which Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai was sleeping and asked her to follow him. Instantaneously he fell down like a log of wood. He told her to keep his head on her lap, whispered a mantra and asked her to repeat the mantra without break. This commotion woke up their daughter and both the mother and the daughter kept on reciting the mantra all through the night.
By that time Ambareesha Varma had lost consciousness and had just slept even without any movement. But at the daybreak, he woke up and normally attended to all his normal activities. He took the fittings to the construction site. This building later on became the Manovati Ashrama. And still later, the centre of the Vishwamaitri Trust.

But while unloading them from the car at the Manovati, a person named Nanjappa lifted some of these materials without going through purification rites deliberately, which apparently made Ambareesha Varma unhappy. An Incident Prior to Shaaradamma's Death
Once a colourful chakra had manifested in the Vishweshwarapura house. Ambareesha Varma showed it to the inmates and warned them that it spelt some trouble. They had planned to go to Mysore for the 1971 Dasara festival as usual. Ambareesha Varma advised them to drop the plan and not to go any where for a year. He remained silent when they asked the reason. Madhu (Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's sister) and others were apparently disappointed.

September 11: Eve of Shaaradamma's Death
Shaaradammaa had heart disease. But she did not attach much importance to it. Devoted to Bhagawaan Shiva, she was always engrossed in reciting His name She invited on that day a highly-placed officer of the Indian Railways settled in Kolkata and his family members to her house. She got from her eldest daughter Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai sweet and khaara dishes prepared. Though afflicted with the disease she bathed, swept the house herself. Despite Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's advice she herself cleaned the Chinese crockery, porcelain utensils and arranged them neatly on the table before the guests arrived. Some of the plates, cups, tumblers and jugs had the drawings of the Chinese Dragon on them. She had learnt this European style from her husband MVV Nayak. The guests came in the evening. They had planned to take Shaaradamma's family to Kolkata for the Dasara celebrations, purchased tickets in advance and had made all arrangements for the trip next day. They informed the family of this. Then Shaaradamma entertained the guests hospitably with the dishes already prepared. The guests took rest for sometime, exchanged pleasantries, asked the hosts to join them for the Kolkata trip next morning for the festival and took leave.

September 12: Shaaradamma's Demise
In the morning, Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai heard a thud (sound)Â from the door of the room where Shaaradammaa had slept. On opening the door, she found that her mother had placed her hands on the heart and was in agony. She and Sachchidananda Swamy, who was also there, held Shaaradamma by one arm each and prevented her from falling down. Shaaradamma was in severe pain and the end was at hand. She took the Tulasi stalk with teertha (holy water) offered by her daughter. Just then as she recited her favourite Bhagawaan Shiva's name, the end came. It is truly said Sharanara Baalu Maranadalli Nodu which may be interpreted that a good man meets his death easily and painlessly. The family members of the Railway officer were shocked with the news of Shaaradamma's death. They recalled that that godly woman was in high spirits and treated them so well just the previous day. They could not simply believe that she was no more. They were extremely sad. Ambareesha Varma reminded his people of the trouble that he had spoken of from the colourful chakra which had manifested in the house a few days earlier and also because of that very reason he had discouraged them From going to Dasara that years. Now everyone realized the validity of his advice. Ambareesha Varma, Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai, Shaaradamma's elder sisters, Sachchidananda Swamy and others were present at the time of Shaaradamma's peaceful death. The soul of the dead woman acknowledged to Ambareesha Varma from long distance communication that it had joined Bhagawaan Shiva's feet. Her sons Krishnamurthy Raju and Srinivas Raju performed her last rites under the guidance of Sachchidananda Swamy and for that purpose went on pilgrimage to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Prayaaga, Gaya and Vaaranaasi. Special poojaas were done by the Swamiji in her memory at Shiva temples with Bilva leaves. After Shaaradamma's death, Ambareesha Varma informed his people of his long distance communication with her soul. He also said Shaaradamma had conveyed the message that Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai would have to face many problems in the coming days and that she had to be very careful. He sat before the portrait of his mother-in-law in the Vishweshwarapur house and spoke of the difficulties that the family might encounter in the subsequent days.

Dr Thimmarayappa could not help her and hence her approach to Ambareesha Varma, who advised her to get initiated for Dhyana. Then one day Ambareesha Varma and Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai went to her house to meet the couple and waited for two hours. Sheshamma was at home, but not her husband. In the end Ambareesha Varma said it was her misfortune and they returned. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai could not grasp the meaning of his statement. After a few days Sheshamma, her husband and her brother drove to Belagavi. The husband died on the spot when their car met with an accident. Sheshamma was injured and was admitted to a hospital. She expressed a desire that before she became unconscious, Ambareesha Varma should do the cremation of her husband's body. Just at that time Ambareesha Varma was returning to Bangalore from Belagavi, saw the accident and went to the hospital where she was being treated. He told the doctors to attend to Sheshamma carefully as she was one month pregnant. The doctors were surprised that he had known about her pregnancy as no doctors could detect pregnancy at that early stage. His assertion was corroborated by subsequent developments. She gave birth to a girl child.

April 5:
Ambareesha Varma and his lawyer had gone to Belagavi for some court work along with their wives. At the railway station they noticed that they had left the brief case containing files in the house. The wives rushed back home and brought the suitcases and the files. They did not have enough time and they came back to the station 45 minutes later than the scheduled time of departure. Just as they reached the platform and handed over the suitcase to Ambareesha Varma, the train chugged off!

April 12:
Shivabaala Yogi went to Ambareesha Varma’s house and had prolonged discussions with him. It has been the tradition to eat Neem leaves on the Yugadi day along with a paste made of other ingredients with different tastes like sweet, sour and salt. The MahaRishi Maarkaandeya had told Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai to eat Neem leaves for 60 days from Yugadi day adding one leaf daily upto 30 days and thereafter reducing one leaf every day for another 30 days. She followed it strictly and derived its benefits.

April 14:
The Kali Yuga for humans came to a close. making way for the beginning of the of Satya Yuga. This was announced by none other than Maharshi Vishwamitra himself. Ambareesha Varma ji felt that it was right time to spread the message of Rishis by initiating the interested persons into Dhyana marga under the Rishis guidance. There was no discrimination on the lines of caste, creed or status for inducting people in to Dhyana marga. Astral presence of Rishis (Sometimes with a Diety) used to be there during initiations. Methods suitable to individual sadhakas were given by Rishis through the worker after studying their karmic backgrounds. Besides other allied subjects like Ashtaanga Yoga, Astrology, Physical culture, narration of Rishis works, etc., were also taught. Sadhakas were taught and trained to lead a righteous life as per the tenets of Rishis.
Setting up of Vishwamaitri and Formation of Trust
Under the guidance of Ambareesha Varma, Vishwamaitri institution was formed and a Trust was registered in the same name on the Full Moon Day of Shravana in 1975.
Its centre is the Manovati Ashrama, situated about 25 kms from Kalyanapuri (the present Bengaluru city) The institution got its name as it was inspired by the MahaRishi Vishwaamitra. Incidentally, Vishwamaitri is also the name of a river, which flowed in Uttara Bhaaratha and joined the River Ganga. Now the river cannot be traced. The river also acquired its name as the MahaRishi Vishwaamitra was born on its bank.
In simple terms Vishwamaitri means Universal Brotherhood.
The Rishis Chose this Place for Various Reasons
- As already mentioned, a divine light descended from sky and entered into the earth at this very place. Â Â Â
- The sources of the divine rivers Ganga, Yamuna Saraswathi are present here.
- A unique Cosmic Temple would come up here (suitable to Satya Yuga principles in the Year 2300 opposite the Present Dhyana-Mandira)
- Rishis have plans to conduct several of their activities at this place in future.
- Saptharishis, by turn, would be in charge of this place. Manovati centre is situated in quiet and peaceful environment surrounded with lots of vegetation. It has a Dhyana Mandira where in the Last Rites of Guru Amara was performed on 25th August 1982, A Pooja Room where Shri Krishna is Present, apart from other facilities. A free medical center was there that catered to the medical needs of the surrounding villages previously.
Dhyaana Deeksha at Matrushri - Other Events
The first batch of Vishwamaitri received Dhyaana deeksha from Ambareesha Varma at the house, Matrushree in Jayanagar-Bangalore. Several unusual events took place at this house. Vibhooti and Kumkuma would appear all of a sudden. Bhagawaan Krishna used to partake milk, sweet and other dishes offered as Naivedya (offerings to the Gods).
Once Ambareesha Varma and Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai were about to leave Matrushree for some place. Her sister Madhu had to be alone in the house at that time, as it was Madhu Amma’s birthday and she was being left alone at home. She pleaded with them to take her along. But Ambareesha Varma convinced her that Rishis would look after her. Then they left. A little later when Madhu went to Pooja room, she was delighted to see some fresh Badusha sweets kept by Rishis in the shape of the Shankha (conch), which was a gift from Rishis on her birthday. She was disappointed.
Another time Ambareesha Varma and the family members went to meet TapasviJi Maharaj and Shivabaala Yogi. That was the time when Shivabaala Yogi was about go into Dhayna. After the meeting, Shivabaala Yogi was locked in a room for his Dhyana and the room was sealed. Just at that time Ambareesha Varma received a message from the Rishis directing him to protect Shivabaala Yogi, who would be harmed by some Rakshasik forces. Ambareesha Varma entered the room from the rear door and saw Shivabaala Yogi bleeding profusely and writhing in pain. Immediately he arranged for medical treatment and returned after the Yogi resumed Dhyana.
It was a custom during Moharrum in Bangalore that along with the Muslims, people of other communities too would walk across the holy fire with immense faith in Bhagawaan. Ambareesha Varma also participated in the event and walked across the fire in a very quite and normal way!
Spiritual Training and Narration of Rishis Works
Ambareesha Varma ji used to conduct regular sessions to share the information revealed by Rishis and also about the Rishis works accomplished by him. Rare and important events that were taking place in the universe as well as in the divine plane as well as the Spiritual Plane (which are unknown to normal human beings) were also being told to members in a selective manner. Apart from initiation for Dhyana on the lines of Sapta Rishi Marga, the members were also taught the principles and manners to be adopted in daily life for a righteous living. He used to clear any doubts that would arise with utmost patience and guide the sadhakas in the spiritual path for their ultimate upliftment.
Ambareesha Varma ji always used to exhort that the sadhakas should sincerely follow the teachings of Rishis with utmost faith and come up to their expectations by shunning the Ego and surrendering to Bhagawaan totally.
Presence of Divine Elements
In the Pooja room of Ambareesha Varma’s house, the Divine elements would be always present. The Rishis would visit the house frequently and would be in contact with Ambareesha Varma ji.
After vacating the house where Divya Hamsa pooja was performed, he moved to several rented houses Whenever he shifted to a new house these elements of Gods would accompany him. This was indicated by the moving divine lamps, which were visible to him and his wife.
Once when he went to live in a house in Jayanagar Bangalore these divine lamps did not go with him for a few day's. Ambareesha Varma was displeased and expressed his displeasure to whoever met him. Then one day he was alone in the house while the others were away, two boys came and told him they had come to stay in his house. Then they disappeared. Ambareesha Varma realised that they were none else than the divine lamps. He was very happy and shared his happiness with his family members when they returned home.
Quite often the visitors who went to the pooja room used to experience that their prayers were responded to. They would get prasaada in the forms of vibhooti, sweetmeats, fruits, flowers and so on.
On a Guru Poornimaa day, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu appeared in the Jayanagar house, where Ambareesha Varma lived with his family members. A footprint of Vibhooti was seen in the pooja room. Ambareesha Varma wished that the vibhooti was not be disturbed and that the foot mark was not swept off. This inconvenienced the inmates as the house was small and there were constant visitors.

One day when Ambareesha Varma was away from the house. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai looked at the foot mark and noticed that the toe portion of the footprint was disturbed. She was naturally perturbed, but was afraid of telling it to Ambareesha Varma. She made up her mind to tell him, after gathering all her courage, but before doing so she looked at the vibhooti once again. To her utter surprise the Vibhooti and the footprint was in tact!
On the Maha Shivaraatri day, Ambareesha Varma worshipped the Bhagawaan Shiva with Bilva leaves and placing the leaves on the Shivalinga to the rhythmic beat of Shiva Sahasra Naama (Chanting of Shiva's thousand names) as was the tradition. Next day he emphatically instructed that the leaves offered to the Bhagawaan should not be removed at a stretch. He removed the leaves one after another while chanting the Sahasra Naama of Bhagawaan Shiva again. When the Linga was emptied of the leaves, vibhooti was seen smeared on it!
Once Dr NM Thimmarayappa, a member of Vishwamaitri, came to the Jayanagar house and spent time with Ambareesha Varma till midnight. He did not agree to Ambareesha Varma suggestion that he stay there for the night and return to his house next day. Then Ambareesha Varma did pradakshina around Thimmarayappa's car, prayed and let him go. On the way some agitators surrounded the car near Ashoka Pillar (a landmark in Bangalore City) and attacked him with lathis and other weapons. Some how the doctor escaped from them and reached home safely.
Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's Fast for Extension of Ambareesh's Life Span
Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai told Asha, the daughter of Jai Kishan Das, of the Rishis intimation that Ambareesha Varma’s life span would end in the year 1974. She vowed that she would undertake fast and leave her hair unkempt till her husband's life was prolonged. Pleased with Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai's unswerving determination, Rishis finally consented to extend Ambareesha Varma’s life span but only upto 1982.
Event of 1977
Late Prime Minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi visited Ambareesha Varma’s house and did Dhyana in the pooja room for some time.
Relentless Spiritual Activities - Ambareeshji Suffers a Heart Attack
Ambareesha Varma was constantly engaged in helping and guiding the spiritual sadhakas on one hand and attending to Rishis work on the other. This apart, he self-inflicted the diseases and ill-effects of those whom he helped. Sometimes he had to take up very tough assignments from them to help the humanity at large.
During such assignments, he used to remain in a room and Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai had to lock the room, as he had to distance himself from the mundane matters. On such occasion, she used to tell everyone that her husband had gone away for some work. There was one telephone in his room and another in the house but outside the room. He had made it clear to her that on no account should she open the room till she received phone call from him. Sometimes Ambareesha Varma spent months together in the room without even food. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai too used to be worried about his well-being and had to be alert all the 24 hours of the day for his call. After he emerged from the room she had to nurse him carefully back to the normal condition. Sometimes he had to restrict his diet on the instructions of the Rishis and be content with tender coconut and a mouthful of beaten rice (Avalakki). That too only once a day.
All this took its toll and he suffered from heart attack in the year 1977. But the Rishis intervened and saved him.
Events Around 1978
On Maha Shivaraatri day, Ambareesha Varma had to go to Manovati ashrama from his house. Those days the roads leading to the ashrama were not in good condition. The car was struck at an elevated stretch unable to move forward. Even as Ambareesha Varma was struggling, an old man appeared and pushed the car effortlessly from its rear right through the elevation. And then he vanished! Who else it could be on that Shivarathri day other than Bhagawaan Eeshwara himself!
Ambareesha Varma had noticed that an aged serpent lived outside the pooja room in Manovati ashrama. On another Maha Shivaraatri night when he and his family members had gone to the ashrama for pooja, his daughter Maitreyi was frightened on seeing the serpent lying near the door of the pooja room, stretching its body to its full-length Manovati ashrama and lifting its hood. He assured her that the serpent would not harm. Even now, the serpent lives there with its body covered by profuse hair. Many people have observed the serpent doing pradakshina around the pooja and Dhayana Mandira and returning to its place without harming anybody.
Events of 1980
Ambareesha Varma had another heart attack. Dr. Thimmarayappa took him to his house in Wilson Garden Bangalore for better treatment. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai, who was in the Manovathi ashrama received the phone call to rush to Dr. Thimmarayappa's house. It was raining heavily and her route was inundated at many places. She decided to walk all the way as no other mode of transport was available. As she was wading through the water she was forced out of her way by the force of the water. Then surprisingly two persons on bicycles came on either side of her and guided her through the water. When she reached Dr Thimmarayappa's house she saw that the area surrounding the house had also been engulfed by water. The water had entered the room where her husband was sleeping. To save him from water the cot on which he was lying was placed on another cot. For 21 days she looked after him in such a perilous situation. Thereafter the couple returned to their house in Koramangala.
On 16th February 1980 a Total Solar Eclipse occurred. Apart from being a rare celestial phenomenon, it was a very significant day for spiritual sadhanas by Spiritual Sadhakas. Special meditations were arranged at Manovati ashrama by Ambareesha Varma ji under the astral guidance of Rishis. Most of the Vishwamaitri members participated in the event.
On April 5th Ambareesha Varma travelled in his astral form to the Mount Kailasa to meet MahaRishi Maarkaandeya. On the way he saw a bright light. Sometime later a celestial vehicle descended onto the earth. Some visitors from another star, who were in the vehicle, were discussing among themselves that the residents of the earth on which they have descended, were very intelligent and that the place was very good. They were also expressing the view that during their flights they had visited and conquered 24 similar other planets and that they wished to win the earth too!
Great Resolve and Strategy of the Rishis
One day, Ambareesha Varma instructed the followers who had come to see him, to note down the message of the Rishis the text of which was as follows:
Some two billion years ago or 200 crore years ago (that is 40,000 human chaturyugas) the descent of the Atma from the Para Brahma Loka started. The atmas from the nearest of all Lokas expressed their desire to descend down to Earth in order to experience the amazing creation and the life on it. The first of such atmas noticed an ape (monkey without tail) and entered the latter's body as it was the only physical body suitable and the other bodies were inconvenient.
Thus countless atmas descended and entered different bodies of apes and found themselves in various difficult situations. Therefore they strove hard to develop all their Koshas and to improve physically, mentally and intellectually. In the process, they also worked contrary to their genetic effect. Through many births, the transformation takes place and the present human body was evolved. The physical, mental and intellectual growth was speeded up from other factors too - such as the effects of Yugas, constant care and guidance from Rishis, etc.
Just as the spring is the best of all seasons, the Satya Yuga is the best of all Yugas. Several chatur yugas have passed and one of them has just concluded. Another cycle of Yugas started from April 14, 1974. The earth and its inhabitants have reentered Satya Yuga (or Krita Yuga) which is the first and the best of all chatur yuga. We are now passing through the transitional period of 432 years. When this transitional period ends, the Satya Yuga or Krita Yuga will begin in its entirety. The transitional period creates some specific and conducive situations in the bodies, minds and the intellect. By that, the atma will again make a herculean effort to acquire a stronger, healthier and more beautiful body and to attain a better moral and spiritual level. The Rishis, who are our guides in our overall progress, also help us by providing a suitable strategy in reaching better moral and spiritual standards. They keep an eye on climatic effects, karmic effects and ward off all our obstacles and sufferings. They also help the masses get rid off the accumulated karmas through various methods - such as Dhyana and other spiritual disciplines. Ultimately the human beings will be able to attain salvation and return to Parabrahma Loka from where they originally descended
The Rishis also make necessary preparations at the physical level and also in the divine plane for the Avataras (Incarnations of Lord), to descend at appropriate times. Rishis, messiahs and other beings of a noble character. All of them help us from time to time in our growth directly or indirectly.
The world has to undergo a series of disturbances and turmoil by which the masses would suffer. The world will witness natural calamities such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. In the process, some new islands will emerge, while some existing ones will disappear, as also some coastal places. There will be a severe drought in many parts of the world resulting in havoc and hardships to both the humans and the animals, a large number of both of whom will perish. The population may reach the 9-billion mark (900 crore), bringing untold misery to man. Gigantic wars will spell death and destruction. First there will be changes in the magnetic poles followed by geographical changes. The appearance of certain comets would spell a bad omen indicating the death of great men of the earth. A comet is also likely to crash into the earth causing pollution in the atmosphere resulting in damage to fauna and flora. The living beings of the lokas situated above the earth will descend on the earth and will spread their knowledge, which will be beneficial to us in our physical and spiritual endeavours. The Bhagawan Suryanarayana will regain his prominence and Bhagwan Surya Deva worship re-begins.
However, in this period of change, pain and destruction, the Atma will achieve spiritual progress under the guidance of Rishis. The human being will be able to conquer the Arishadvargas (inner enemies - kama , krodha, mada, moha, Lobha, Matsarya) and emerges as a Divya purusha (An enlightened being) devoid of all vices and weaknesses. At this elevated stage, man will live for 20,000 years along with the God ParaBrahma.
The Final Emancipation (Mahaa Niryaana) of Ambareesha Varma
It may be recalled here that the life span of Ambareesha Varma ji was extended up to the year 1982 only. Rishis knew very well that his services were required in another Loka sooner. In fact, Ambareesha Varma ji had revealed this information on some occasions. In the physical plane, Ambareesha Varma’s health gradually deteriorated in 1982. Even so, he had on his hands much unfinished work. He had been thinking of the future activities of Vishwamaitri and the Manovati Centre, the ways of adopting the Rishis' strategy, etc. He was under constant medical care. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai diligently learned the methods of treating him and carrying out necessary tests. She regulated the visitors so that he would not be put to undue stress and strain. However, Ambareesha Varma ji used to appear peaceful and would never give even an inkling of his suffering to the visitors.
Despite this, those in his vicinity knew vaguely that he was sinking. His followers sincerely wished and tried their best to put off his end and prolong his life by stepping up Dhyana and other spiritual observances. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai also grew suspicious of the hovering dark shadow. She became aware of a strange happening around 3:30 each afternoon.
It was an afternoon in July 1982. Between 4 and 6 P.M, the inmates of the house witnessed three blood-colored lights resembling the three eyes of Lord Shiva. The lights entered the house; after some time those on the left and right sides disappeared, but the middle one approached Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai and then retreated. When asked about this phenomenon, Ambareesha Varma just expressed regret but did not give any hint to anyone.
When he was alone, Ambareesha Varma had been expressing his wish to leave the body without disturbing the peace of any one. As a devoted wife, Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai wished to be with him till the last moment. Just to convince her and his followers, Ambareesha Varma used to tell that he would live for another 15 years and that they need not worry. They remained with that fond hope unaware of the inevitable!
Once Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai told Ambareesha Varma that she had sacrificed everything for him. He agreed that she had put up with a trail of difficulties in her married life and assured that they would stand her in good stead. But, he continued, one should not sacrifice anything for the sake of its fruits. Then the benefits of the deeds would be lost. A wholesome deed would indeed yield a wholesome fruit at the right time. He also advised her not to compare herself with her brothers, sisters or the equals in society; if someone causes grief for her, she has to keep away from them and forget them; not to brood over such things and spoil her health. Ambareesha Varma told that none one should grieve even when he leaves this earth and the activities of Vishwamaitri should go on.
Another incident happened at 3:30 P.M. on August 18, 1982. A group of boys were making a loud noise on the road a little away from the house. The noise and the commotion had disturbed the peace in the area. At the same time, Ambareesha Varma remarked that by 3:30, his heart would stop beating. An emotional Guru Maathe Susheela Bai retorted that he should not leave without telling her and that it should not be night. Otherwise, I will take the Rishis to task.
Just then the heart specialist Dr Raghavendra Rao arrived and examined Ambareesha Varma. He did not say anything, just came down the stairs and was followed by Guru Maathe Susheela Bai. Queried by her, he said there was no improvement. She was apparently agitated co-relating the doctor's statement with Ambareesha Varma’s remark about 3:30 being the time of heart stoppage. She was distressed that she could not save him despite all efforts. Her heart was heavy. She cried with helplessness. Dr Raghavendra Rao informed Dr Thimmarayappa of the state of her mind. The latter consoled her.
Filled with emotion, she started reciting a devotional song yaaru badukidarayya hari ninna nambi.. (Meaning who lived by having faith in you..?) But she could not continue singing, overcome by grief. Realising her predicament and responding to her, the doctor chanted the next line of the song: show to me. I do not find anyone in this world. Seen off by Guru Maathe Susheela Bai, he left the house, completing the song.
On August 8, 1982, Sunday, seeing his agony, his family members contemplated taking him to a quality hospital, but Ambareesha Varma declined. When Guru Maathe Susheela Bai's younger brother Srinivas Raju told her of the arrangements made by him to take Ambareesha Varma to the hospital, Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai explained to him her husband's mental state. With utter displeasure her brother remarked No one seems to wish to keep him alive. Silence was the only response of the helpless wife.
1982 August 25 (Bhaadrapada Shukla Saptami)
The day dawned as usual at Shambala, the Koramangala residence of Ambareesha Varma. That was the day for the immersion of Ganapati idol. The required prasaada was being prepared. Ambareesha Varma took the breakfast bought by Guru Maathe Susheela Bai. Her sister Madhu returned home and called her sister for visiting the house of the State Chief Secretary for a pooja. Both the sisters Sought Ambareesha Varma's permission. But He did Not respond, Guru Maathe Susheela Bai remained home and Madhu went with Maitreyi. Sachchidananda Swamiji met Ambareesha Varma on the latter's wish and left to Nandi Ashrama to supervise the ongoing work.
A close associate of Ambareesha Varma had come to see him. Guru Maathe Susheela Bai requested him not to take much time to avoid disturbance to Ambareesha Varma ji. The visitor meets Ambareesha Varma who was looking pleasant even at that stage. Ambareesha Varma gives a piece of advice to the visitor.
Write down the word sacrifice (Tyaaga) in your diary. Nothing can be achieved without sacrifice. I could have lived like a king. Because of my sacrifice for the good of the world you all are in the Vishwamaitri. Do not ever think of your own interests. The God will look after them. work hard.
There is no difference between the spiritual and material works. All work is spiritual. Surrender to lord with sincerity; be honest and have full faith in him for the results of your action. Spirituality is not just the Dhyana of 24 minutes. It is the pure way of life for 24 hours.
Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai intervened and told the visitor that he had taken more time than necessary. But this did not hinder Ambareesha Varma’s enthusiasm. He continued with his talk that now onwards all the followers should take instructions from the Rishis and work accordingly. He told the visitor to arrange a meeting of the Vishwamaitri group at 4 P.M. that day so that he could advise them.
Heart specialist Dr Raghavendra Rao came for his check-up. But Ambareesha Varma did not wish to see him. He said he would offer his body to the doctor or to anyone else but only the next day. Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai had forgotten that day to keep as usual the records of the results of tests of pulse, blood pressure, urine and blood sugar. Somehow she could not find any time as she was busy throughout the day.
After some time Dr Gyan Chand came to see Ambareesha Varma but he declined and told Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai to send the doctor back. The doctor went back as he had to attend an operation.
Dr. Thimmarayappa came for the check-up as usual. But he was upset because Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai had not kept the record of observations that day. When he told Ambareesha Varma of this lapse, the latter supported her up maintaining that she had been too busy all day to keep the records. He also consoled the doctor that it was not that important.
Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai had not taken food for three days. She arranged for the bath of Ambareesha Varma and then ate a bit of idli and brought tea for Dr Thimmarayappa.
At 3:00 P.M. Ambareesha Varma wanted to go to bathroom. He rolled up the Yajnopaveetha (Sacred thread) removed clothes and tied a towel around himself. Guru Maathe Susheela Bai took hold of his hands. For two minutes the bodies of the two were tightly held together like two wooden pieces tightened up. They were not aware of this. It was the unconscious state. Then Ambareesha Varma prayed MahaRishi Vishwaamitra and Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai prayed to the MahaRishi Maarkaandeya. As she removed his hands from hers, he started slipping down. She realized that there was something wrong and called for help.
She made him lie down on her lap. Madhu rushed in and asked what had happened. Ambareesha Varma said that he was alright. It was the sheer will power and equanimity of a person who is on his last breath. Artificial breathing was done as he found it difficult to breathe normally. Dr Thimmarayappa gave him first aid. But all this was in vain.
It was about 3:30 in the afternoon. His Divine Atma had left the body peacefully. And as he had remarked in the morning his body was now available for the doctors and the others.
His Atma entered the Satya Loka (Sanat kumara Loka, from where he came) as predicted by Ambareesha Varma himself earlier, for resuming the Rishis work in that Loka. His followers assembled at 4 P.M., as instructed by him, but he was not there! They were disappointed for the first time. The grief was unbearable!
As per the tenets of Sanatana Dharma, holy waters of Gangotri and Yamanotri was poured into his mouth. The Bhagavad Gita was recited. Next day his body was Lit With Agni at Manovati ashrama in Present Dhyana Mandira. It merged with the PanchaBhutaas of Nature.
Though not present physically, Ambareesha Varma lives on. The work started by him has been carried on under the able leadership of his revered wife Guru Maathe Susheelaa Bai. Universal friendship which was Ambareesha Varma's dream and vision can be realised only by honest and selfless efforts of all.
Special Qualities of Guru Amara
Guru Amara, though being a Great Rishi has some special qualities that sets him apart from others. The following information about his uniqueness was given by Vishwamitra Maharshi.
Guru Amara is a specialist at materialising himself into many bodies and working parallel to serve God
During the Second World War, He materialised himself simultaneously in 18 different places and worked for the Red Cross, tending and caring for the wounded. This information was revealed through his relatives. Vishwamitra Maharshi gave a completely new dimension to this skill of his. He said that in 1971, Guru Amara materialised in 1007 other places simultaneously, some places being in different galaxies too. This was done to accomplish special work.
He is an expert at music
Vishwamitra Maharshi gave an example of him using this talent for his work. Once during World War II, he was listening to the radio and there was a news broadcast of many soldiers who were injured in the gunfight. Guru Amara then began to hum a very healing tune. Exactly 12 minutes later, the radio announced that the Red Cross volunteers had reached the soldiers and their treatment would shortly begin in the tents. On another occasion, he had used his vocal capacity to cause a much needed rain.

Guru Amara is renowned for his extraordinary Humility
In many lives Guru Amara was born as a king, but he always remained detached from the grandeur and prosperity that arrived with that title. In all his lifes, he was also known for his adjusting nature and patience. Whenever great personalities and avatars descend on earth for some work, a lot of activity is done in the background by the Rishis to help these personalities. Their huge work remains hidden and all glory is given to the Avatars. When asked about this, Guru Amara had said, ‘We are like workers who clean the streets. What we do is nothing when compared to the work of these incarnations’. Once, a priest in a Ganesha temple spoke at length to Guru Amara about Lord Ganesha and his virtues. Guru Amara had worked with Lord Ganesha! But he chose to listen to the priest with all attention and respect, without ignoring him.
Guru Amara is a specialist in anchoring special energies
Vishwamitra Maharshi says that whenever he anchored energies, the place got healed completely and it would become a container for new knowledge and energies. On Aug 25th 1972, Guru Amara went astrally all over India thrice and anchored energies. It was these energies that set India on the road of development. After this event, India began to welcome newer technologies and innovations that weren’t allowed until then. Again in the year 2000, August 25th, he anchored a lot of energies at various cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mysore, Mangalore, Pune and Mumbai. These energies helped to pick up the pace of growth in the industrial and technological sectors. Even before his death in 1982, he anchored many other energies in India, so that people from all over the world could gather these energies from here and spread it all over the world.
